Hey lovelies,
I have a friend who is transferring to NCR this weekend. It all happened on such a short notice that we didn’t get enough time to plan for anything.
She received the confirmation on Thursday, hence we planned an evening out on the very day. The irony of this farewell party is that the person departing was on fast.:P. Anyways, we decided a beautiful place but due to traffic and work the next day, we ended in the neighborhood.
The first impression, those flower laden rickshaws parked on both sides of the entrance. As I stepped in I liked their outdoor seating, those beautifully decorated walls with picture frames and then those paper lamps on the edge of the shed running all the way to the other end.
Southeast Asian food is not something I like. I just can’t take red chilly or pungent and sharp flavors like those of kimchi. I am a die-hard fan of Chinese, probably that’s what I eat more often than my own food. But Thai or Malay, I don’t try that often or feel like trying. Maybe it's because of my hesitation that I never explored this food culture. I entered this place with a hope of trying something new ad experiencing this rich food legacy. And what place could be better than this?? Just go by the analysis, top ratings everywhere be it zomato, google or wherever. A million good reviews on the internet and from many people I know. And what makes this even perfect was being accompanied by another foodie friend, who has been there.
My first words to him: “I’m really illiterate in this, get me taste something good.”
We ordered food, thanks to everyone for letting me order everything. I mean really dude, I don’t know much except I have seen all this on TV. Thanks to Goddess Poh ,Luke Nguyen and all those Asian contestants on Master Chef for making me aware what all those fancy named ingredients were. My order was completely based on the description given on the menu.
Here’s a glimpse of our order.
Soup: Tom Yum
Starters: Thai Spring Rolls (Something I always eat), Teriyaki chicken, Grilled Quail (which was later canceled due to unavailability).
Main Course: Singapore noodles.
Drinks: Fruit Punch, Mojito, Martini.
Soup: Tom Yum. It was for a friend. I have tried this earlier too. I am not a fan of Tomatoes. And if it’s a super-hot, chilly laden vegetable broth--- Kindly EXCUSE ME!!! There’s no way m going to eat that. And the person it was ordered for, she too didn’t like it much.
Starters: Super Yummy spring rolls. The only best thing for the evening.
Teriyaki chicken: A sponge soaked in an acidic salty slurry.
Mains: Singapore noodles, were ok. Slightly saucy noodles with kimchi like base.
Drinks: Mojito, bitter lemons in alcohol with a million leaves, not just mint.
Sweet Lime Martini
: A weird concoction of oxidized and stale sweet lime juice and alcohol. Such a shame!
By now you might have gauged my experience. It was such a fail. Bad food, overpriced, pure dissatisfaction.
My rating for this place is:
Overall: 2/5
Ambiance: 3/5
Food: 2/5 (5/5 for those spring rolls)
Value for money: 2/5.
